Orange kitten gets adopted by cat mom whose 9-year-old kitty crossed the rainbow bridge, she promptly returns to adopt his bonded brother to keep her feline family purrfectly whole

It sounds purrfectly counterintuitive. Adopt another kitten? Why would we willingly bring a second possessed creature into our homes when we already can't control one of them? But logic isn't always "right", especially when it comes to our feline friends. If you have two kittens, they play with each other, learn from each other, and feel safe together. Cats are very sensitive to change, even kittens! Bringing any cat into a new home, no matter the age, is stressful for them, so if they have a buddy, they're bound to get through it quicker and more healthily.

That brings us to our kittens below. The cat mom who adopted them only adopted one at first. She lost her 9-year-old cat to liver failure and decided it was time to bring more feline energy back into her life. So she went and adopted half of a pair of bonded brothers. But when she got home, she felt guilty about leaving the other one behind. Knowing that sometimes two is better than one, she went back and adopted his brother also. Now their feline family is purrfectly whole, pawsitively fluffy, and 100% orange. We can't imagine a better family than that.

    Lost my 9 year old cat to liver failure. It was devastating. I decided to adopt a kitten. He was close to his brother but I didn't think I could take two so I took one. Then everyone was telling me I should have kept them together. After talking to my roommate I decided to go back and get the other.

  • Adopting a cat is a huge responsibility, especially a kitten. We know, because we've adopted quite a few in our lives. Bringing a kitten into your home is like bringing home a tornado with claws for about a year. They need a lot of stimulation and a firm (yet loving) hand to teach them the do's and don'ts of your (their) house. The internet is full of people asking for advice on raising kittens, and the number one answer that everyone has to give is this: get a second one.

    madt... My husband and I adopted the oldest, fattest orange at a shelter, named him Barrel, only for them to tell us he came in with a brother, complete opposite, a deaf heterochromic albino. I hesitated taking on both, but we kept talking about it all day.

    Next day, husband out running errands, I call him to say hey, I think we should go back and get his brother. He bursts out laughing, he's already on his way back home with him, named him Cask. Always worth having a pair. Edit for cat tax:

  • Imagine being separated from your sibling at an early age. Sure, you would grow up okay, but you would probably grow up better if you were with them the whole time. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that it's the right thing to do.

    Commercial_Bird8467 I fostered 4 litters and came across 2 orange brothers who were bonded like no other. I couldnt find both a home and made a post here "should I split up or keep them myself if they don't get adopted together" The answer was

    keep them. Someone on reddit commented and said she was 2 hours away and would take them. They look so much like them boys but I get occasional pictures and I couldnt have made a better decision. Congrats and thank you.

    Tigerzombie 2 kittens are less work than 1. They keep each other occupied and you don't need to worry about them being bored if you are gone for long periods.
